Polyurethane Foaming Equipment in Construction: Benefits and Key Factors

Advantages in Construction

  • Excellent thermal insulation — currently the best insulation material in construction.
  • A seamless, integrated waterproof layer with good water and seepage resistance.
  • Strong bonding to metal, tile, glass and wood, with no risk of lifting in wind.
  • Ageing resistance and long service life — up to 30 years.
  • Simple, fast construction that indirectly saves project cost.

How Foaming Works

Polyurethane foaming equipment is the dedicated machine for filling and foaming polyurethane foam. As long as the raw material performance meets the recipe, the equipment produces uniform, qualified foam. Polyether polyol and polyisocyanate, in the presence of blowing agents, catalysts, emulsifiers and other additives, form the foam. Foaming depends on heat, which comes from two sources: chemical reaction heat (a fixed value) and environmental heat (which varies with ambient temperature).

Factors Affecting Foaming Quality

  • Foam stability: directly determines foam quality; an ideal stable foam breaks on contact with fibres.
  • Foam uniformity: the foam generator must produce uniform cells so the latex disperses evenly on the fabric surface.
  • Bubble size: the foam acts as a carrier; smaller bubbles mean better emulsification.
  • Mixer operation: improper stirring also affects foaming, so operate and select materials strictly.
